What
is IBLCE?
The
International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) is a nonprofit
organization established in 1985 to develop and administer the professional
certification examination for lactation consultants.
Passing
the rigorous exam and obtaining the credential certifies attainment of
the "gold standard" of competence set by experts in the lactation
field. Certification is designed to protect the interests of babies and
mothers.
International
Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC's) use a problem-solving
approach to provide appropriate information, referrals, and recommendations,
and have the ideal qualifications to assist their communities, hospitals
and other health care professionals.
The
certifying exam is offered annually at approximately 105 sites worldwide,
scattered across 36 nations, including Brazil, Austria, Australia, the
United States, and Canada. It is offered in English and many other languages,
including Dutch, French, German, Icelandic, Italian, Japanese, Korean,
Polish, Portuguese, Swedish, and Spanish. For more information, please
